Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)
What is Chiropractic care?
Chiropractic care focuses on diagnosing and treating mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, particularly the spine. Our practitioners use a variety of techniques, such as Applied Kinesiology, Craniopathy, and Activator, to help relieve pain, improve mobility, and promote overall health. Chiropractic treatments are non-invasive and tailored to each patient’s individual needs.
What should I expect during my first Chiropractic visit?
During your first visit, our chiropractor will conduct a thorough consultation to understand your medical history and current health concerns. This may include physical examinations, postural assessments, and range of motion tests. Based on the findings, a treatment plan will be discussed and tailored to address your specific needs.
What is acupuncture, and how does it work?
Acupuncture involves the insertion of fine needles into specific points on the body to stimulate energy flow (Qi) and promote healing. At Lifestyle Healthcare, we offer traditional acupuncture as well as laser acupuncture, which is ideal for children or those who prefer not to have needles inserted. Acupuncture can help with a range of issues, including pain management, stress reduction, and fertility support.
Is acupuncture safe?
Yes, acupuncture is considered very safe when performed by trained professionals. We use disposable, sterile needles for every session to ensure your safety. Additionally, laser acupuncture is available for those who wish to avoid puncturing the skin.
What types of massage therapy do you offer?
We offer various massage therapies, including:
- Remedial Massage: To treat muscle pain, tension, and stiffness.
- Deep Tissue Massage: Focuses on deeper layers of muscle tissue to release chronic muscle tension.
- Cupping Therapy: Involves applying cups to the skin to create suction, helping to relieve pain and tension.
- Trigger Point Therapy: Targets specific muscle knots that cause pain and stiffness. Each massage therapy is tailored to your specific needs to ensure maximum benefit.
Do I need a referral to visit Lifestyle Healthcare?
No, you do not need a referral to visit our clinic. However, if your condition requires further investigation or specialised care, our team can provide referrals to other healthcare professionals in our extensive Allied Health Network.
How long will my treatment take?
Treatment lengths vary depending on the service and your specific health needs. Typically, acupuncture sessions last around 20 minutes, chiropractic consultations may take 30-45 minutes, and massage treatments usually last 30-60 minutes. Your practitioner will advise you on the optimal duration based on your condition.
Can I combine Chiropractic care with other treatments?
Yes, Chiropractic care works well in combination with other treatments, such as massage therapy, acupuncture, and nutrition. Our holistic approach aims to treat the root causes of your health issues, and our practitioners will discuss the best combination of therapies for your individual needs.
What should I wear to my appointment?
For chiropractic and acupuncture sessions, we recommend wearing loose, comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the areas being treated. For massage, it’s best to wear clothing that can be easily removed (you’ll be covered with a towel during the session).
